Yes I am
by David Jones
You can't be serious..
Yes, I am-
Do you know there are beams two foot square, fifty feet long, running through the building
neighbor?
Are you going to pull it down? I'll be able to see the mountains...
Actually, Yes I am... and rebuild it.
Yes, I am-
The Dalton Gang, as I named them,
6 Amish guys-
Carpenters, roofers, Steeple builders...
Quite a few locals watched as the new steeple was raised.
The bell in place- It's only Thursday. I ring the bell anyway,
Climb the four 20 foot ladders to the ledge,
surrounding the crest of the steeple.
I see the mountains, the town, the valley,
the highest point in Beavertown, PA --
the roses in the memorial garden,
lodged respectfully between the three churches
that host this most precious hillside place-
The windows go in
The roof replaced
Secure.
As we replace boards and floors
wonders were explored
The greatest of these,
the recovery of 46 pounds of honey-
The building had been damaged by fire,
and the 20 plus years of work the bees created
Removed without masks or gloves --
3 queens
and the most glorious tasting treat for all
We each received a large jar,
and the gang shared the rest.
Rubbish skips-
scaffolding cranes- large amount of timber,
everything needs to be secured-
The rooms are large
each has a stage
Upstairs a mural on the wall
and memorabilia
and local references
will adorn the walls.
Early evening
the sunlight shines into the building
and as it passes by
the shapes and images are individual and
- settling -
A function hall--
"An Experimental Theatre"
Museum - Yes I am -
Need a metal fire escape to the second story.
Yet to finalize the electrical needs - His & Hers -
Seating or not -
It's on the move again
August, September ---
I would like to sing in the building -
Share a refreshment with friends,
enjoy the SPACE ---
To be continued ---
